Manus Adiutrix. The Helping Hand.

Every workshop eventually encounters the same problem:

there are never enough hands.

The Manus Adiutrix was created to solve this persistent inconvenience by providing stable support wherever patience, precision and gravity begin competing for attention.

Whether assisting with laboratory apparatus, workshop assemblies or ambitious projects of uncertain complexity, it serves as a reliable additional hand whenever one would be most welcome.

Simple in concept.

Invaluable in practice.

Artifact Description

Manus Adiutrix. The Helping Hand.

Every workshop eventually encounters the same problem:

there are never enough hands.

The Manus Adiutrix was created to solve this persistent inconvenience by providing stable support wherever patience, precision and gravity begin competing for attention.

Designed for laboratories, workshops and ambitious projects of uncertain complexity, it offers a reliable framework for holding glassware, tools, instruments and experimental assemblies exactly where they are needed.

The modular configuration allows the user to arrange supports, clamps and rings according to the requirements of the task at hand, transforming a simple stand into a remarkably adaptable workshop companion.

Its design is intentionally straightforward.

No unnecessary complexity.

No unnecessary ornamentation.

Only a stable foundation, a capable structure and the quiet reliability expected from a tool intended to serve for years.

Simple in concept.

Invaluable in practice.

Configurations Observed in the Chambers

Mistress Curiovera’s Workshop

Single Configurations:

• Manus Adiutrix III-3

For herbs, infusions and preparations requiring only modest assistance.

• Manus Adiutrix III-6

For occasions when a single experiment develops additional ambitions.

Chamber Sets:

• Scholar Set (3 + 3)

A balanced arrangement suitable for most laboratory and workshop tasks.

• Artificer’s Set (3 + 6)

Favoured by inventors, herbalists and individuals known to begin one project before finishing another.

• Master’s Set (6 + 6)

Recommended only for those who insist on assembling the entire apparatus at once.

Curiovera’s Workshop Note

While often associated with laboratories and technical apparatus, the Manus Adiutrix has long been a familiar sight within botanical workshops as well.

Distillation systems, aromatic preparations and delicate glass assemblies rarely share Inventorium’s confidence in gravity. A reliable support structure allows attention to remain focused on observation and preparation rather than preventing unexpected encounters with the floor.

For this reason alone, several Manus Adiutrix units have become permanent residents of my workshop.

Auxiliary Manipulation Structure

Primary Function:
Temporary replacement for insufficient biological arms.

Observations:

• Humans consistently attempt tasks requiring more hands than available.

• Object successfully compensates for this recurring design flaw.

• Provides stable support for glassware, instruments and experimental assemblies.

• Reduces accidental encounters between gravity and fragile objects.

Assessment:

Object displays unusually high usefulness despite lacking moving parts, automation or decorative features.

Classification:
Approved.

Additional Note:

Gravity remains undefeated.

Current strategy:
Delay its victory.

Notes from the Chambers

Keeper of Curiorium:

At first glance, it appears to be little more than a metal pole with several clamps attached.

Master of Inventorium:

An accurate assessment.

Keeper of Curiorium:

That seems surprisingly modest.

Master of Inventorium:

The most useful tools often are.

Keeper of Curiorium:

And what exactly does it do?

Master of Inventorium:

It provides additional hands.

Keeper of Curiorium:

How many?

Master of Inventorium:

That depends on the configuration.

Vaults Master:

At least someone around here is helpful.

Master of Inventorium:

That sounded personal.

Vaults Master:

It was observational.

Keeper of Curiorium:

Which configuration do you use?

Mistress Curiovera:

The one I originally intended to use, or the one currently supporting three additional projects?

Keeper of Curiorium:

The second one.

Mistress Curiovera:

Then the larger version.
