Artifact Description

At first glance, The Tabula Calefacta appears to be a simple electric heating plate.

In practice, it is something far more useful.

Whether you create candles, blend fragrances, prepare herbal mixtures, melt wax, warm ingredients for craft projects, or simply enjoy experimenting with materials and ideas, a reliable source of controlled heat quickly becomes an indispensable companion.

Compact and easy to use, The Tabula Calefacta offers a practical solution for small workshops, creative studios and home laboratories alike. Its modest size allows it to fit comfortably on almost any workbench while still providing enough heating capacity for a wide variety of tasks.

Curiorium does not consider this device a laboratory instrument.

Nor a kitchen appliance.

Nor a crafting tool.

It has proven capable of being all three.

And that is precisely why it belongs here.

a convenient and elegant solution.

Further Notes

Some visitors insist that this is laboratory equipment.

Others claim it belongs in a workshop.

A surprising number argue that it is simply a very sophisticated way to make tea.

Curiorium continues to investigate the matter.

Historically speaking, the difference between a kitchen, an alchemical workshop and a witch’s cottage was often smaller than modern scholars would like to admit.

The tools were remarkably similar.

Only the intentions changed.

Notes from the Chambers

Keeper of Curiorium:

Today I stopped by Inventorium to borrow a small heating plate. I have yet to discover how borrowing tools from Inventorium inevitably turns into a lecture on workshop organization.

Master of Inventorium:

Because a well-organized workshop saves time, protects equipment and encourages experimentation. Besides, I noticed that the heating plate spends more time travelling between chambers than sitting on a workbench.

Keeper of Curiorium:

That may be true.

Though I also noticed an unusual aluminium case on your desk, complete with locks and a rather suspicious brass plaque.

Master of Inventorium:

A prototype.

Nothing more.

Portable storage for tools and equipment.

Keeper of Curiorium:

With walnut panels, leather details and custom compartments?

Master of Inventorium:

As I said.

A prototype.

Keeper of Curiorium:

I am beginning to suspect that Inventorium occasionally builds things simply because it can.

Master of Inventorium:

An accusation I neither confirm nor deny.

Mistress Curiovera:

I find it amusing that a simple heating plate intended for botanical preparations somehow became a discussion about aluminium cases, brass plaques and workshop logistics.

Keeper of Curiorium:

The plaque was apparently necessary.

Master of Inventorium:

It was.

Mistress Curiovera:

Naturally.
